EMU becomes 4 Day Week accredited employer!

We’re proud to announce that East Marsh United is now officially recognised as a 4 Day Week accredited employer – marking an important milestone in how we support our staff and deliver for our community.

After operating a Monday to Thursday, 32-hour working week for some time (with full-time pay), it’s fantastic to have this approach formally recognised by the 4 Day Week Foundation. We are currently the only accredited employer of this kind in our area.

A model built on trust, quality and wellbeing

Our approach is simple: trust, not tracking.
We don’t measure impact by hours logged, but by the quality of our work and the lasting difference it makes in the community. Alongside this, we place a strong focus on staff happiness, wellbeing and sustainable workloads.

Sue Baker, Community Outreach Lead at East Marsh United, explains:

“A four-day week allows us to have a great work-life balance. It enables us to have flexibility within our job roles, so that we’re using those hours according to what the need is at that particular time. It’s a really healthy way of working.”

Recognition from the 4 Day Week Foundation

Sam Hunt, Head of Business Relations at the Foundation, welcomed the accreditation:

“The four-day week is becoming an increasingly common path for employers seeking to align with the demands of the modern day. More and more organisations are adopting this because it works, and stands to improve the quality of life of those able to implement it.

As one of the 4 Day Week Foundation’s accredited employers, I’d like to commend East Marsh United for their smooth adoption of a reduced working hour employment model and wish them the best for the future as they continue to reap the benefits of this practice.”

Looking ahead

Becoming an accredited employer reinforces our commitment to progressive, people-first working practices. It enables our team to thrive while continuing to deliver meaningful, high-quality work for the communities we serve – now and into the future.
