East Marsh United are delighted to share some fantastic news – we’ve just acquired another home on the East Marsh, after it was very generously gifted to us by one of our former members. This latest acquisition brings our total up to 14 homes owned and managed as ethical landlords for the benefit of our community.
Why This Matters
Every house we acquire represents much more than bricks and mortar. It’s another secure, affordable home for local people. It’s a step away from exploitative landlords and towards a fairer housing system. And it’s part of our vision for the East Marsh to be a place where residents have real power and pride in their community.
We know that housing is at the heart of so many issues we face – from health and wellbeing to financial stability and community spirit. By steadily purchasing homes and letting them ethically, we’re putting control back in the hands of the community and showing that there’s a better way to do things.
Community Power in Action
This milestone is only possible thanks to the incredible support we’ve had – from volunteers, funders and local people who believe in what we’re doing. Each house represents collaboration, dedication and the shared belief that together, we can shape the future of the East Marsh.
What’s Next
We’re not stopping here. Our long-term aim is to keep growing our stock of community-owned housing, giving more families and individuals the security of a safe, affordable and well-maintained home. 14 houses is a brilliant achievement, but it’s also just the beginning.
Our friend Gary Leshone from Expert Spray will now get to work renovating the home, with a view of having it all done and dusted for a local family to move into before Christmas.
