East Marsh Nature Day 2025

Over the weekend, local residents, groups and organisations gathered for East Marsh Nature Day at Shal (St John & St Stephen’s).

Organised in collaboration with East Marsh United and St John, St Stephen’s and Shalom, the day was dedicated to celebrating the natural world and exploring ways to make our community a greener, more sustainable place to live.

A Day of Activities and Discovery

The event offered something for all ages:

  • Families discovered the fascinating world of bees with Bizzie Bees and even made their own beeswax candles.
  • Children and adults built bug hotels, potted flowers to take home and created colourful crafts to brighten local gardens.
  • Adventurers took part in a nature treasure hunt, encouraging exploration of the outdoors.
  • Visitors also had the unique opportunity to come face-to-face with exotic animals, including a tarantula and a skunk.
  • Local groups joined the day to share their passion for plants, creativity and sustainability.

A free community lunch was also provided, giving neighbours the chance to sit together, connect and enjoy good food.

More Than Just a Family Day Out

East Marsh Nature Day was not only an enjoyable event, but also a chance to reflect on the importance of caring for our environment.

One of our ongoing missions is to make the East Marsh a greener and healthier place to live. Seeing so many people come together to support that vision made the day something truly special.

Looking Ahead

The success of this year’s event demonstrates how much our community values both nature and one another. By working together, we can continue to nurture our local environment and build a brighter, more sustainable future.

We would like to thank everyone who attended, contributed and helped make East Marsh Nature Day 2025 such a success.
