300 neighbours, one plan
Written on our streets, not in an office somewhere.
Being heard far and wide
East Marsh United is building confidence, growing leaders and connecting our neighbourhood with partners across the country. By standing up for social justice and equity, we’re making sure the East Marsh is not left behind — and that our voices carry far beyond our own streets.
Take a look at what we've been up to
-
National collaborations help the East Marsh shape thinking on equity and justice
-
Grassroots Democracy
We’ve supported local residents to organise, speak up and take action on the issues that matter most. From neighbourhood planning to independent voices in local government, we’re proving that politics doesn’t have to be distant – it can start right here in our streets.
-
Building Partnerships
When the Independent Commission on Neighbourhoods visited the East Marsh, chaired by Baroness Armstrong, we showed how community power works in practice. By linking up with networks across creativity, climate and citizenship, we’ve raised our profile and built stronger partnerships for the future.
-
Climate Justice
Our People & Place lead, Josie, is working nationally with Retrofit Reimagined, a collaboration dedicated to ensuring retrofit and climate work is done with communities, not to them. This puts the East Marsh at the forefront of conversations about fairness in tackling climate change.
-
Regular restorative reviews create a caring, respectful team culture within EMU.
-
-
-
Partnerships with universities bring in research and new opportunities.
-
Residents are leading conversations about responsible citizenship.
What's next?
- Josie’s fellowship with the Coral Foundation will bring fresh ideas and national attention to our work.
- Continue to grow collaborations with partners across the UK, so East Marsh voices are always part of the conversation.
- Build more local leadership opportunities so residents can step forward with confidence.
