Our East Marsh Community Roots Fund has reached an exciting milestone, with eight local organisations chosen by East Marsh residents to take their projects forward and receive funding from East Marsh United in order to do so.
The projects were selected following the Community Roots Market Place Event, where residents had the opportunity to meet the applicants, hear about their ideas and decide which projects they wanted to see supported by our fund.
Community Roots: Designed by the Community
The Community Roots Fund project began with a simple but important principle: local people should have a say in what happens in their community.
As part of the process, East Marsh residents were invited to suggest names for the new fund and vote for their favourite. From that community-led process, the East Marsh Community Roots Fund was born.
Residents were involved from the outset, helping to shape the identity of the fund and creating a strong sense of ownership around the project.
Eight Organisations, Chosen by the Community
The Community Roots Market Place event brought together a fantastic range of local organisations, each with ideas aimed at making a positive difference in the East Marsh.
Following the presentations and discussions, residents cast their votes to decide which projects should receive support.
The eight successful organisations are:

- We Are ONE Foundation
- Jen’s Den
- YMCA Youth Club
- Urban Youth Market
- Penguin Benchmark Entertainment
- STEMPUNX LINCS
- Susie’s Clothing Bank
A Community Decision
What makes the Community Roots Fund particularly special is that the successful projects were chosen by East Marsh residents themselves.
Rather than decisions being made solely on behalf of the community, local people had the opportunity to hear directly from the organisations, consider the ideas and decide which projects they believed would make a difference.
The eight successful organisations can now take their ideas forward and begin turning them into action – creating activities, opportunities and support that will benefit people across East Marsh.
A huge congratulations to Coastline Recovery, We Are ONE Foundation, Jen’s Den, YMCA Youth, Urban Youth Market, Penguin Benchmark Entertainment, STEMPUNX LINCS and Susie’s Clothing Bank.
And, of course, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part – from suggesting the name of the fund, to attending the Market Place Event and casting a vote.
Community Roots is about putting local people at the heart of local decisions — and these eight organisations are now ready to bring their ideas to life.
