East Marsh United’s base at 84 Wellington Street was full of energy on Thursday as local residents came together for our Community Roots Market Place event – and it was a fantastic success.
The event gave local people the opportunity to meet the residents behind some brilliant ideas for the East Marsh, hear more about their projects and have their say on which projects they would like to see receive funding.
With five votes each, local residents had a genuine opportunity to help shape what happens next in their community. It was fantastic to see people getting involved, asking questions, sharing their thoughts and supporting their neighbours.
A community coming together
The Market Place was a wonderful example of what can happen when local people come together with ideas, enthusiasm and a desire to make a difference.
Our Community Roots Fund Seedlings Mentor, Holly, was delighted with how the event went:
“The Market Place Voting Event didn’t just meet expectations — it soared past them and was an incredible success. It was truly heartwarming to see our community come together in such a supportive way. I’m genuinely proud to be part of such a proactive and dynamic team that brings projects such as Community Roots to life.”
A huge thank you to everyone who came along, cast their votes, met the stallholders, shared their ideas and supported the fantastic people working to make the East Marsh a better place to live.
We’d also like to thank all the local residents who have put their time, passion and creativity into developing their Community Roots ideas. Your enthusiasm is exactly what makes this programme so special. 🌱
Local people. Local ideas. A stronger community.
Community Roots is all about giving local people a voice and supporting ideas that can make a real difference in East Marsh.
The Market Place was an important part of that process – and it was brilliant to see our community getting behind it.
